Martin County Man Arrested on Multiple Drug-Related Charges

Martin County authorities arrested Russell Erwin Wednesday afternoon on multiple drug-related offenses. The arrest occurred at 4:24 p.m. Erwin is facing several charges, including dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, neglect of a dependent, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful use of a police radio. Erwin was booked into the Martin County Jail, where he remains in custody.

Sumner Renews Trash Collection Contract with Republic Services

The City of Sumner will continue its partnership with Republic Services for trash collection following action by the city council Tuesday evening. Council members voted to approve an ordinance granting Republic Services exclusive franchise rights for a one-year contract. The Bridgeport City Council has accepted the resignation of Patrolman Austin Biehl, who will be leaving the department effective October 21, 2025. Biehl is departing to join the Lawrenceville Police Department. With his resignation, the city is now seeking applicants to fill the vacancy on the Bridgeport Police force. Those interested in applying can pick up and submit applications at Bridgeport City Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
