SHELBURN – Indiana State Police report two are dead following an incident in Shelburn.
Around 4 AM on Monday, Sullivan County Sheriff, Jason Bobbitt contacted Indiana State Police to assist in a homicide. Upon arrival, deputies attempted to make contact with any individuals located in the residence where the alleged shooting occurred, but received no response. When deputies and troopers cleared and checked the residence, they discovered a deceased female, as well as a deceased male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation is ongoing, but detectives have identified the deceased male as 81-year-old Keith Sheffler and the female victim as 75-year-old Judy Sheffler, both of Shelburn. Family members have been notified.
The investigation is being conducted by Indiana State Police detectives Don Curtis, James Crisp, and Sergeant Michael Featherling, with the assistance of CSI Sergeant Tim Rader of the Putnamville State Police Post.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and the Sullivan County Coroner’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
This is an active and ongoing Indiana State Police investigation.
