John R. Walker, 57, of Wayne City passed away 2:02PM on Saturday September 20, 2025, at Deaconess Illinois Crossroads Hospital in Mt Vernon. John was born in Fairfield on September 21, 1967, to Gary R. and Linda S. (Musgrave) Walker. John was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved reading, always had a smile, and loved helping other people.
John is survived by his parents- Gary and Linda Walker of Wayne City; sister- Stacy Andrews of Wayne City; niece- Katlyn (Levi) Watkinson; great nephew- Waylon Watkinson; aunts and uncles- Bobbee and Larry Theis, Toyzann Musgrave, Wanda and Brian Musgrave, Kathy Walker, and Debbie Walker; several cousins; honorary son- Brian Bumpus, honorary daughter- Genny (Mike) Cottrill, and honorary grandchildren also survive.
John was preceded in death by special friend- Brenda Bumpus; brother- Robert Walker; grandparents- Robert and Joan Musgrave, William “Sam” and Joyce Walker, and Don and JoAnn Simpson; uncles- Richard Walker, Steven Walker, Danny Walker, and Larry Walker.
John will be missed by everyone.
Per John’s wishes, his body will be cremated, and memorial graveside service will be held at 11AM on Friday September 26, 2025, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield. Family and Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
