West Salem Officials Explain Why Sirens Went Off Monday Night

WEST SALEM – The Village of West Salem has recently replaced the roof on the Fire Station. The emergency siren was previously on the roof on the fire house, but now has been installed on a metal pole. Emergency officials in West Salem chose to test signals Monday evening.

Fire officials say that the signal test was to make sure the siren worked as it was designed to do. They also say when the firehouse siren goes off, the amount of times it goes off tells emergency personnel if the emergency they are about to respond to is in the village out in a rural area.
