LOOGOOTEE – On Tuesday, Loogootee Mayor Brian Ader celebrated the success of recent events in the community.
Ader mentions that they had great crowds for a pair of movies that were shown in town as part of an event. The events were put on by the Loogootee Beautification Committee and the Loogootee Parks Board. Ader also gave credit to the Beta Club for taking care of the popcorn and concessions for the event. Ader also mentioned that there was a great crowd over the downtown concert over the Labor Day Weekend.
Ader in the video mentioned that the community is planning to continue to produce events for the community and are looking to put on more concerts and movie nights next year. While the events are great for the community, they are an expense to the city. Mayor Ader announced that they are seeking sponsorships from the community to help continue to make these events happen. Ader mentioned that the recent movie nights cost the city in licensing around $850 while bands can cost thousands of dollars.
In October, there will be a pop-up vendor market on Saturday, October 25 from 9 AM until 3 PM. There is a $10 setup fee. To get a booth, you can call 812-351-1996. The city is also looking at having a food truck vendor day in the future. Finally, the city is looking at hosting an adult movie night as well this fall.
For those interested in potentially sponsoring events, you can contact City Hall at 812-295-1000.
Finally, Mayor Ader announced that official Trick or Treating hours for Loogootee will be from 6-9 PM on October 31st.
