Former FCC Dean Of Instruction Arrested For Sex Crimes

Former Dean of Instruction for Frontier Community College, Dr. Paul Bruinsma, has been arrested for charges of Grooming, Luring of a Child or Guardian to Commit a Sex Offense or Engaging in Unlawful Sexual Conduct With a Child, and Criminal Sexual Abuse/Conduct With Use of Threat or Force.

According to court reports, it was revealed during a pending divorce that Dr. Bruinsma was allegedly communicating via text with a female minor and had purchased the minor gifts, including an expensive Tiffany’s & Company of New York necklace.

Dr. Bruinsma resigned his position with FCC in November of 2024. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on Friday afternoon.

It has been revealed that prior to taking his position with the college, Dr. Bruinsma was convicted of Third Degree Assault in Columbia, MO in 2006; with an underlying offense of Molestation in the First Degree. A conviction which carried a 15 day county jail sentence.

As always, charges are not a conviction and all suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Illiana News will post more information as it becomes available.
