Bruinsma Pleads Guilty In Wayne County Court As Part of a Plea Deal

Paul Bruinsma appeared before Judge Denton Aud in Wayne County Court on Tuesday. In that appearance, Bruinsma waived his right to a formal arraignment and reading of the charges.

A plea agreement in the case has been reached, depending on a sex offender evaluation to be completed. In that agreement, Bruinsma will plead guilty to grooming while the count of criminal sexual assault will be dropped.  The count agreed to in the agreement would be from 1-3 years as well as up to 6 months of mandatory supervised release. Bruinsma will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

According to the court appearance, Bruinsma sent a sexually lewd message to an individual. Bruinsma is out of jail on an agreement to follow all conditions requested by pretiral services.

Sentencing will take place December 2nd at 1:30 PM.
