Election Petitions in Illinois are officially able to be returned from October 27th thru November 3rd, but there are several races set to take shape in Wayne County

According to County Clerk and Recorder, Elizabeth Woodrow, there are 3 individuals filing for a 2-year unexpired term as Cornoner. Shari Winter, Ryan Best, and Tom Windland are the individuals filing for the post.

Sheriff Chris Otey will be running for another term as Sheriff, but will be facing competition as it was announced earlier this week that JB Fletcher will be running for the position. JB’s wife, Georgianna, currently serves as the Circuit Clerk.

For the County Clerk and Recorder’s position, Doug Atkinson and Billie Jo Townsend are filing for the position. Woodrow who currently is in the position will be retiring at the end of her term.

In other positions, Matt Vaughn has filed to be judge and Kyle Ellis has filed to be States Attorney. Jodi Poole, the County Assessor, has moved away from there area and currently nobody has filed for the position.

Election day in Illinois for the spring is March 17th.
