A traffic stop conducted early Saturday morning by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Vincennes woman on multiple felony drug charges.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, around 12:33 a.m. on October 11, 2025, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a black 2015 Chevrolet Equinox for driving left of center near the intersection of South 15th Street and Cavanaugh Street in Vincennes.

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Kari Schatz, was found to have two active felony warrants through Knox County courts for possession and dealing of controlled substances.

K-9 Goran was brought to the scene and alerted to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. A search of the Equinox revealed a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with two prescription pill bottles containing medications not prescribed to Schatz. Authorities say Schatz admitted the drugs belonged to her.

Schatz was taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail, where she was booked on her outstanding warrants. Schatz now faces additional charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Legend Drug.

As of Sunday morning, Schatz remains in custody pending a court hearing.
