Eighteen participants graduated from the Knox County Drug Court during a ceremony held Wednesday at the Knox County Circuit Courtroom. Family members, friends, and local officials gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates as they marked a major milestone in their recovery journeys.
Those graduating from the program include Russell Barnard, Ashley Burden, Amanda Carson, Skylar Clymer, Sammi Damon, Jessica Eddleman, Amber Hatton, Nicholas Hay, Jeff Johnson, Tyler Lett, Michele Loudermilk, Eric McCarter, Jessica McGregor, Shannon Parkes, Aaron Pohl, Julio Ramirez, Chris Smith, and Dannielle Yarber.
Knox County Superior Court II Judge Brian Johnson presided over the ceremony, joined by Drug Court Coordinator Joseph Williams and Case Manager McKenna Dillon, who presented certificates to each graduate.
According to information released by the Knox County Drug Court, this graduating class has collectively achieved 8,674 days of sobriety since entering the program. Their participation has also helped them avoid a combined 63 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, saving Knox County taxpayers an estimated $1,210,736.45.
Additionally, officials noted that 31 children in the county have directly benefitted from having more engaged and active parents as a result of the graduates’ successful completion of the program.
The Knox County Drug Court program aims to help participants overcome substance abuse, rebuild their lives, and reintegrate into the community as productive citizens.
