Wayne County authorities arrested Kylee Davis on multiple charges Wednesday Evening. Davis faces counts of unlawful restraint, threatening public officials or human service providers, and criminal damage to property. She was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail.
Martin County authorities arrested Russell Erwin Wednesday afternoon on multiple drug-related offenses. The arrest occurred at 4:24 p.m. Erwin is facing several charges, including dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, neglect of a dependent, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful use of a police radio. Erwin was booked into the Martin County Jail, where he remains in custody.
The City of Sumner will continue its partnership with Republic Services for trash collection following action by the city council Tuesday evening. Council members voted to approve an ordinance granting Republic Services exclusive franchise rights for a one-year contract. The Bridgeport City Council has accepted the resignation of Patrolman Austin Biehl, who will be leaving the department effective October 21, 2025. Biehl is departing to join the Lawrenceville Police Department. With his resignation, the city is now seeking applicants to fill the vacancy on the Bridgeport Police force. Those interested in applying can pick up and submit applications at Bridgeport City Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident Wednesday evening along Highway 168 near Snake Run Road. Authorities say the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest on its side in a wooded ditch. Wayne County authorities have arrested 26-year-old Isiah Shelton on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Shelton was taken into custody around 1:29 p.m. and is currently being held pending a court appearance. No additional details about the arrest have been released at this time.
