The Bridgeport City Council has accepted the resignation of Patrolman Austin Biehl, who will be leaving the department effective October 21, 2025. Biehl is departing to join the Lawrenceville Police Department. With his resignation, the city is now seeking applicants to fill the vacancy on the Bridgeport Police force. Those interested in applying can pick up and submit applications at Bridgeport City Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

Amber Rogers, 39, of Bridgeport, was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony under Illinois law. Lawrenceville Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Lawrence County Couple Wednesday Evening after a call to a domestic dispute. 41-year-old Jennifer Vowels and 27-year-old Austin Vowels we both taken into custody on charges of domestic battery. Both are being held in the Lawrence County Jail, pending a court appearance.
