A Mount Carmel, Illinois man was sentenced to time in the Illinois Department of Corrections following a hearing in Wayne County Court on Thursday. 59-year-old Wayne L. Davis will spend 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by a year of mandatory supervised release. The sentence is to be served concurrent with a sentence out of Edwards County. Mount Carmel SOS To Close

The State of Illinois has announced that the Mount Carmel branch of the Illinois Secretary of State's Office will be closing. According to the state, the location is one of the lowest used locations in the state, averaging around 15 license transactions daily. The staff will be transferred to a nearby location. Nearby Secretary of State locations include Lawrenceville, Carmi, Fairfield, and Olney. The final day will be November 14th.

MOUNT CARMEL, IL - Mount Carmel police arrested a Mount Carmel Woman on a theft charge Tuesday. At 5:02 PM Tuesday, police booked 20-year-old Tessa Smith into the Wabash County Jail.
