CUSD #20 Seeking Applicants to Fill School Board Vacancy

Community Unit School District #20 is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on its Board of Education following the resignation of Mike Seitzinger.

The person appointed will serve on the board until the next regular school board election in April 2027.

To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, Illinois residents, registered voters, and live within Region 2 of the CUSD #20 district.

According to district policy, the board has 80 days to fill the vacancy. Board policies regarding elections and board service can be found on the district’s website under BOE Press Policy 2:70.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest to the Unit Office at 1802 Cedar Street in Lawrenceville, by mail to the same address, or by email to Superintendent Doug Daugherty at ddaugherty@cusd20.net.

Applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025. After reviewing applications, the board may invite selected candidates for interviews in a closed session. The appointed member will be officially seated by the December regular school board meeting.
