Edwards County Commissioners Appoint New County Clerk

A new clerk has been appointed in Edwards County.

During Monday’s County Commissioners Meeting, officials appointed Melanie Knight to fill the term being vacated by Mary Beth Smith. Smith turned in her notice of resignation from the position last week. She has been in that position for the last 28 years. Knight is a resident of Grayville.

The current term of the Clerk in Edwards County is thru 2026. Knight has also announced that she will be filing to run for the position in next year’s election cycle.
