Oakland City Police and. Gibson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a White 1999 Ford Explorer early Wednesday after observing a moving violation near the railroad tracks on Jackson Street in Oakland City. The stop happened around 3:10 AM
When officers approached the vehicle, they detected the smell of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. After a brief drug investigation law enforcement officers released the driver of the Ford Explorer and continued their drug investigation locating a large amount of Methamphetamines near the traffic stop.
Law enforcement officers located the White Ford Explorer near the intersection of Mill and Broadway Street where they continued the drug investigation. At the conclusion of their investigation, they placed 58-year-old Darrell Mitchell of Oakland City into custody.
Mitchell was charged with Possession of Methamphetamines over 5 grams. He was booked into the Gibson County Detention Center.
