Several Fire Crews Battling Grass and Field Fires

UNDATED – Several fire departments throughout Illiana have been fighting field fires this weekend.

Daviess County Crews have been called out to fires along the I-69 corridor while Vincennes Township crews have been battling grass and field fires just outside of Vincennes.

No injuries have been reported with the blazes. The fires have been occuring due to heat and the current ground conditions. Forecast officials at the National Weather Service office in Indianapolis are calling for rain over the next several days.

Several counties in the area have burn bans due to the dry conditions. Officials say that open burning isn’t allowed in areas that a burn ban is in place.
