When you think of a County Clerk, you think of the person in charge of elections as well as keeping records of agendas and minutes for county meetings. Another job a County Clerk has is issuing marriage license and serving as a wedding officiant.

David Shelton was elected as the Knox County Clerk in 2019. Since then, he has now officiated his 600th and 601st weddings.

“Second to only election administration, this is one of my favorite duties as a county clerk“ said Shelton

Shelton says that he has been able to perform outdoor weddings in every part of the year. He has officiated in heat and drought, to even cold and snowy.
