32-year-old Dylan A. Smith of Vincennes appeared in Knox Circuit Court Thursday. Smith is accused of the murder of 30-year-old Taylor Hendershot in an incident that took place outside of Cardinal Liquor Store on North 6th Street.

Prior to the official appearance, Smith’s attorney, Brock Dawson met with the Deputy Prosecutor, Brian Lucchi, to find if there was any plea deal for the case. According to Lucchi, nothing has been offered at this time.

During the hearing, it was learned the side are working toward a change of plea. A change of plea hearing has been set for 3:30 PM on Friday, October 31st in Knox Circuit Court. The defense also requested a trial date be reset in the event a change of plea does not happen due to the amount of evidence. The court set a new trial date for April 21st with a final pretrial date of March 27th.

Smith remains in custody of the Knox County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
