South Knox School Board to Review Budget, Personnel, and Facility Items at October Meeting

The South Knox School Board will convene for its regular October meeting on Tuesday, October 14th at 7 p.m. at the South Knox administration building. A full agenda awaits the board, with several key financial, personnel, and facility-related items up for consideration.

Under action items, the board will consider approval of the 2025 budget, which includes both the three-year capital projects plan and the five-year school bus replacement plan. The board will also review several financial resolutions, including the Resolution for Appropriations and Tax Rates, the Resolution to Authorize Tax Anticipation Warrants, the Resolution for Authorization for Reductions, and the Resolution for the 2025 Education Fund Appropriation Reduction.

In matters of contracts, the board will consider the cancellation of the contract with Andy Ziegler, who had been providing wastewater treatment plant testing and compliance services. The termination would be effective September 30th, 2025. A new contract is expected to be approved with Schutte Environmental Consulting and Compliance to provide the same services, retroactive to October 1st, 2025.

A number of personnel recommendations will also be presented for approval. At South Knox Elementary, the board will consider:

Approval of a volunteer 5th grade boys’ basketball coach Approval to hire a homebound instructor at $49.86 per hour for six weeks, retroactive to September 22nd, 2025 Approval to hire an elementary boys’ basketball assistant coach

At South Knox Middle-High School, the agenda includes:

Approval to hire a 7th grade girls’ basketball coach Approval to appoint junior class co-sponsors Approval of a volunteer swim coach Approval of a substitute and ECA bus driver for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year Acceptance of the resignation of a cafeteria cook, retroactive to September 16th, 2025

Under miscellaneous items, the superintendent is seeking board approval to declare several obsolete items as surplus, including one office/desk chair, one rolling cart, and two typewriters from the superintendent’s office.

Additionally, the board will consider approval for an overnight trip for the South Knox Girls’ Tennis Team, scheduled for March 27–29, 2026, at Brown County State Park in Nashville, Indiana, for a team camp.
